Scott is a native of Harrisburg. He became interested or maybe curious about photography at a very early age, do to his father’s influence or was it his father’s Polaroid? There was just something magical about those images that didn’t have to go to the drugstore or the camera store to be developed... How can that be? Is it magic? It was this interest along with the mechanical aspect of the cameras themselves that led to the curiosity that led to
photography.
There are many elements that can be found in Scott’s imagery; fantasy, beauty, sensuality, mild erotica. These elements can be combined or left to stand on their own. Whatever the desired results. There is color, sometimes bold, sometimes muted, there is black & white, there is altered, colored, tinted manipulated, or pure. What is evident in his work is curiosity, exploration and most of all passion. The figure is very influential in this work, but not exclusive. There can also be everday objects, scenic vistas, flora. Whatever caught the fancy that day.
Scott uses a variety of camera’s; from Polaroid’s, to high tech auto-everything marvels, and low tech plastic. There are many different techniques used; some to manipulate and alter some to bring out the marvelous descriptive qualities of the medium. Again this work is about passion, curiosity and exploration. There is natural daylight, artificial studio light, ambient light or any combination available. Most recently there is the digital image and the wonders of the
computer.
This work has been called provocative, others have called it degrading. It has been collected and sometimes protested. The work is personal, not meant to offend, just an offering to be
viewed.
