Myk
Briggs is a physicist who has been taking pictures for
over 40 years
He has an interest in photography which could be
reasonably described as `broad church' and even possibly
obsessive ! He has chased around the world taking
pictures of wildlife and in September 1997 visited the
Arctic Circle to photograph woodpeckers. In 1999 he
lived with an unphotographed jungle tribe in India to
document their lifestyle and has exhibited the results
at several venues.
A book about the tribe will use his pictures as
documentary illustrations. In one of his large studios
you may find him taking very high speed exposures of
flying owls or exploding party poppers, however his main
interest is human photography, be it candid, fashion or
figure.
He was recently President of Oswestry Photographic
Society.
As a member of the RPS, he is currently LRPS and
pursuing his way up the Society's Distinctions.
Some evenings he will be judging photo club work or
local artists efforts Although he mainly uses 35mm, he
is experimenting with a 5x4" view camera and lots
of digital paraphenalia including even high speed
digital pinhole images.
He recently built a new darkroom for monochrome in spite
of mixing his avid interest in computers with his
photography.
Recent efforts to use chroma blue and projected
backgrounds have brought forth some unusual images.
He has had some work published and you can find many of
his pictures on the Internet.
Currently he has virtually forsaken film for the
inevitable and inexorable swing towards the Nikon D1
& (X) series.
At the present time he runs the BAKERY Photographic
Studios
